3 New Apps that Help Automate Content Promotion

I’m sure you’ll agree.

Content promotion often feels like an awful struggle.

It’s tiring. It demands more you could ever handle. And the results you get are often far from what you’d hoped for.

Just take a look at typical actions you have to take when promoting a typical blog post:

Schedule social media updates. Reach out to influencers to convince to help share your content. Contact bloggers asking for mentions and links. Submit your content to industry communities and do tens of other things.

And I agree:

It’s so easy to start feeling lost among all this, end up doing nothing and….

… send your content into the obscurity of millions of other blog posts, social media updates, videos, infographics and other content types.

Luckily, there is an alternative – using technology.

Marketing has always relied on technology in one way or another. Be it a simple printing press to print flyers in the pre-digital era. Or modern software to aid with almost every single aspect of today’s marketing strategies.

And it’s no different when it comes to content.

There is a vast number of tools available on the market that help you spread the word on your content and reach a target audience.

In this post I decided to show you 3 that can help with powerful content promotion strategies:

  • Influencer outreach,
  • Sharing archived content, and
  • Promoting your content with email.

Here they are:

Influencer Outreach – Contentmarketer.io

I’m sure you already know these two things:

  1. Including academic research findings, statistics, influencer quotes and other references makes your copy seem more authoritative, and
  2. Letting sources you’ve quoted know about it and asking to share it could help promote your content to their audiences.

But for the latter to happen, you need to reach out to them first.

The trouble is, it’s a lot of work. You need to find each person’s contact details, be it their email or social media accounts. Reach out to them, keep an eye for any replies and follow up if necessary.

Luckily there is an app to automate this process – contentmarketer.io, a new tool by Sujan Patel.

Here’s a quick run through of how it works.

1.         Input your post’s URL into Contentmarketer.io to let it find all references you included.

2.         The tool will then proceed to scout the web to find any potential ways to contact these sources.

CM2

You can edit those results at any time, by the way and remove or update information about sources.

3.         Once you’re happy with the list, hit Start Outreach.

The tool will open a message panel allowing you to specify what you want to say to the influencer. Contentmarketer.io also features a number of templates you can use and tweak to your needs.

4.         Once done, hit send and start reaching out to influencers.

Sharing Archived Content – Edgar

There was a popular app couple of years ago called Tweetadder. One of its features was the ability to upload a text file with a list of tweets you wanted to post. The tool would then publish them to your channel at preset intervals.

It was great. You could create a couple of such lists and pick one to use for that day every morning. The tool used to save tons of time. And I know at least a couple of major influencers who used to use it that way.

Tweetadder then disappeared, at least from my radar.

Recently however I heard of a tool that allows to do something similar but in a smarter way – Edgar.

I’m going to be 100% upfront, I haven’t tried Edgar yet. My introduction is based purely on what I heard of it.

And apparently it works like this:

Instead of publishing your social update just once, it stores them in a categorized archive.

As Edgar’s creators explain:

“All of your updates are sorted into categories that you create and published on a schedule that you choose, so Edgar publishes what you want, when you want it. No manual scheduling, no busywork, and no hassle – just the peace of mind that only Edgar can provide.

After Edgar publishes every update in a category, he simply pulls more from your library. You never run out of messages in your queue, and your handcrafted updates get the chance to be seen, shared, and loved by brand new people.”

Pretty neat, huh?

Of course, if you only post repeatable messages, soon your social media stream would be filled with outdated content. Because of that you can also specify updates you want published only once and they won’t be added to your library.

Edgar currently works with Twitter, Facebook, Facebook Pages, Facebook Groups and Linkedin.

Promote Your Latest Post to Email Recipients – Wisestamp

You know:

Email is the basis of business communication today. I’m sure like many others you send and receive hundreds of messages a day.

But do you know that many of your recipients could be interested in your content?

And that the easiest way to tell them about it is to include a link to it in your email signature.

Here’s how Calin from Inbound Interactive does it:

But I’m sure you’ll agree:

It’d be damn tedious to have to update your signature every time you publish a new post.

Luckily there’s an app for that too, Wisestamp.

Wisestamp allows you to create nice looking email signatures. Simply.

Here’s how to use it:

First, sign up for a free account at http://www.wisestamp.com.

Once done, the app will automatically take you to a screen where you can create your first signature:

Input your information in the left sidebar and it will automatically update on the signature preview in the main window.

Apart from personal and business information, Wisestamp let’s you connect additional services to your signature:

  • Social media accounts,
  • YouTube,
  • Follow buttons,
  • Quotes, and
  • Your Blog RSS feed.

WS1

Fill your blog feed details, click Add to Signature and Wisestamp will include a link to your latest post in your signature.

WS3

Now every time you publish new blog post, Wisestamp will automatically include it in your signature.

To include your signature in emails simply use one of the browser based emails like Gmail or Yahoo. Wisestamp automatically integrates with them and will include your signature in every email.

Here’s how it looks included in Gmail message:

Wisestamp also gives you the option to download the signature to use with desktop clients (i.e. Apple Mail). This option however does not include dynamic links. And thus, it will not update your latest post’s link when you publish new content.

And that’s it…

Three relatively new apps that can help you automate various aspects of content promotion.

What do you think?

Do you see yourself using any of these tools? Or perhaps you already do? If so, share your experience with us in the comments.
